Corporal, Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment based in Gagetown, New Brunswick. Aged 26, he was born in Truro, Nova Scotia. He had volunteered for his third tour of duty with the Canadian contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.
He was killed with Pte John Curwin and Pte Justin Jones, and another soldier injured, after a roadside bomb detonated near their armoured vehicle during a security patrol in the Arghandab District approximately 14 kilometres west of Kandahar City.
Cpl Hamilton grew up in Upper Musquodoboit, about 30 minutes outside Halifax. His mother described him as a kind and loving man who loved to tease and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and golfing. He was a devoted father to his young daughter, Annabella. He is also survived by his partner Katie Probert, father Edward Hamilton, mother Cindy Higgins and stepfather Wayne Graham, brothers John and David, stepsister Rachelle, and extended family.

Military funeral held on Monday, December 22, 2008 in St. James United Church, Upper Musquodoboit.
A total of 103 soldiers and one diplomat have died since Canada first sent troops to Afghanistan in 2002.
