Erected in 1888 this monument is located in front of the First Parish Church, the oldest building in Derry. The Forest Hill Cemetery is connected to the church. The monument cost $3,000.00 of which $1,000.00 was a bequest of Miss Emma Taylor who for many years served as principal of Adams Female Academy. The monument, designed by C.H. Dinsmore, is twenty-seven feet high with a base eight feet square.
