Herbert C. "Clif" Asay
Herbert Clifton (Clif) Asay, 70 died Sunday morning Sept. 22, 1985, at his home in Byron of an apparent heart attack. He was born July 5, 1915, in Shepherd, Mont., the son of William Elton and Sarepta Asay.
He spent most of his life in Lovell moving to Byron 27 years ago. He married Florence Richeson on July 16, 1940, in Logan, Utah. He worked for the Wyoming Highway Department as a highway maintenance man for 25 years.
He loved gardening and working with cattle, and enjoyed associating with children and youth. He was actively engaged in church work for the L.D.S. church and held the office of a High Priest in his ward.
Survivors include his wife of Byron; four sons, Donald Clifton of North Glen, Colo., Thomas Herbert of Monterey, Cal., Stephen Richeson of Mission Viejo, Cal., Melvin Jospeh of Hardin, Mont.; five daughters Kathleen Bartlett of Clinton, Mont., Julie Asay of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Elna Shoji of Antioch, Cal., Adell Woolf of Garden Grove, Cal., andSsusan Mathis of Kearns, Utah; a brother, Lawrence K. of Winnemuca, Nev.; two sisters, Delma Hinton of Cody, and LaWana Morris of Konawa, Okla., and 28 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, David Richeson Asay.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 26, 1985, at 1 p.m. in the Byron LDS Chapel, with Bishop Charles Hessenthaler officiating. Burial will be in the Byorn Cemetry. Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell is in charge of arrangements.
