Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Walter elected to shun the many business concerns operated by various members of his large extended family. Instead, he sought to make his own way in several cities and towns across the U.S.A. He proved he was as smart a businessman as his other siblings. He often took on jobs others might not have. In a newspaper interview in Chicago he reveled how he worked hard and applied himself, learning all the nuances and facets of any job he ever had. He last move took him to Oregon and from there, he seems to just have vanished. Literally.
