Obit: Wm. H. Hayter was born in Monroe County, Tennessee, 3-16-1830 and passed away at his home in McLeansboro, Illinois, Monday 12-24-1906. He moved from Tennessee to Hamilton County in November 1851, and remained a citizen of the same until his death. On 12-16-1854, he united in marriage with Louisa Proctor and to this union was born three children, two daughters and a son. George died in infancy, Dora A. and her father have for many years made their home in McLeansboro, but Thomas W. is away. Mrs. Hayter died in 1868 and for thirty-four years has been awaiting the coming of her husband in that better world. For about 40 years Brother Hayter has been a faithful and consistent member of the Methodist Church and the advance of years found him becoming more and more like unto his Master and ripening into a preparation for that better house above. Funeral was conducted by the pastor of the M. E. Church, Wednesday, December 26. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. W. A. Browder, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, who conducted the meeting in which Mr. Hayter was converted; interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
