Wife of Philip Slaughter. Daughter of Revolutionary War Patriot Philip Slaughter and Elizabeth Towles of Virginia.

DAR Real Daughter.

Her husband, Philip Slaughter, and their son, Edward Mercer Slaughter, are buried on their Clover Hill Plantation in Rappahannock County, Virginia.
Anne Mercer Slaughter, interviewed by her niece Jane Chapman Slaughter, left an interesting account of life on Springfield Plantation in the early 19th century. Her maiden name was Slaughter and her second husband was Philip Slaughter (same name as her brother, the Reverend, who is also buried in the same cemetery). Her husband Philip is buried at his home Clover Hill in Rappahannock County, while she is buried at All Saints, now renamed, with her brother, his family, and her son, Thomas Towles Slaughter and his wife (who was his cousin and the daughter of the Reverend Philip Slaughter). Thomas Towles and his brother Edward "Mike" Mercer served in the 6th Virginia Calvary. When Mike was killed at the Battle of Newtown, Thomas Towles rode home to Rappahannock bringing the body home to his mother at Clover Hill in Rappahannock, where Edward was buried alongside his father.
