Important Connersville industrialist. Founder of the McFarlan Carriage Company in 1857. He was noted for developing one of the first industrial parks in America when he set aside a portion of his family farm to attract manufacturers of components for his carriage business to Connersville. In so doing, McFarlan laid the groundwork for the automobile industry which flourished in the Connersville prior to the Great Depression.
