Friends and relatives were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Josephine Fry Johnson, Friday afternoon, May 25, at 5:30 p.m., from a heart condition, having suffered poor health for the past few years.
Mrs. Johnson was a native of George County, a daughter of the late Issac and Elizabeth Fry. She was a member of the Lucedale Baptist church. She was married to the late Edgar L. Johnson, and for most of their married life lived in this county.
Funeral services were held from the Lucedale Baptist Church at 3 o’clock Sunday, May 27, with Rev. Van Hardin, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery with Fails Funeral Service directing.
Pallbearers were: Joe Vesely, Barney Pilgrim, Curtis Miller, Tom Hempstead, Jr., Shelby Smith and George Green. Honorary pallbearers were: Aubry Blackwell and R.C. McKay.
The deceased is survived by three sons, Rudolph V. Johnson, George M. Johnson and Marion H. Johnson, all of Lucedale; 3 daughters, Mrs. A.J. Powell, Lucedale; Mrs. D. B. Blackman, Hattiesburg, Miss., and Mrs. Orrel King, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Calender, Hammond, La.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
