Birth: 1835
Ohio, USA
Death: Feb. 26, 1864
Nashville
Davidson County
Tennessee, USA

Amaziah was the son of Leonard and Ellen (Wickson) Swiger.
July 19 1860, in Tippecanoe County Indiana he married Martha Sprague. He and Martha had two children, Martha (Swiger) Hutson and Ellen Swiger.
On January 15 1864 at Lafayette Indiana Amaziah enlisted into the service of the Union Calvary, Company I 4th/77th Reg. Indiana Calvary Volunteers, to serve 3 years.
Private mustered in 1-18-1864 at Indianapolis IN and died 2-26-1864 at Nashville TN of Measles and Bronchial Pneumonia, leaving a wife and two small daughters.
Amaziah's name on his tombstone is misspelled, it appears to be the result of an error in spelling on a hospital record. All other military and pension records record the spelling correctly.
