Thomas J. Allison, longtime city resident, died in a local hospital Wednesday morning. He was 85.
Allison was born in Boone, Iowa Feb.15,1877 and came to Rapid City in 1911. For many years Allison was section foreman for the Black Hills and Western (Crouch line) railroad.
Later he worked for the Dark Canyon Stone Company and for the Surface Burial Vault Company as well as Robbins and Stearns.
He married Ethel. Holliday in Sioux City, Iowa in 1906. Mrs. Allison survives as do five daughters, Mrs. Cloris. Hollis, Mrs. Joe Shavlik, Mrs. Burtt Julius and Mrs. Morris Johnston, all of Rapid City and Mrs. Janith Kargar of Seattle, Wash; four sons Meril and Arnett. Allison, both of Riggens, Idaho; Marvin. Allison of Benton, Wash; and Orville Allison of Rapid City; two brothers and one sister,20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A memorial is being arranged for the Canyon Lake Methodist Church.
The Rev. Gerald K. Hill will conduct funeral services in the Behrens Morturary Friday at 2p.m.
Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
