M. Nadine Dooley

M. Nadine Dooley, 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the First Central Church of the Brethren, 103 N. 13th Street, KCK. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Visitation with family will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the St. Mary's College Scholarship Fund in Leavenworth, Kan., or to the Church of the Brethren.

Nadine was a life long member of the First Central Church of the Brethren. She was Deaconess Emeritus and held many positions in the church. She loved her fellow church members and thought of them as family.

In 1960, Nadine married Roy Dooley. They had a long and loving marriage that included a lot of travel and many friends. Nadine worked as executive secretary for Mayor Mitchum and Mayor McDowell. She also belonged to many organizations such as Women's Chamber of Commerce and Zonta International. In the 1980's Nadine decided to leave the job force, and returned to the academic world. She graduated from KCKCC and St. Mary's College of Leavenworth, Kan., Magna Cum Laude. In her later years, Nadine found time to write a senior column for the Kansan newspaper.

Nadine was preceded in death by both her parents, two brothers and her son. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Roy Dooley; daughter, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law.

The family would also like to extend a very special thanks to Nadine's caregivers. She will be solely missed not only by her family and husband, but also by the many people from all walks of life to whom she was a friend, mentor, and a community activist.
