Birth: Dec., 1864
Ohio, USA
Death: Nov. 17, 1933

Grandfather of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. and the father of Rev Martin Luther King Sr. James Albert "Jim" King was the husband of Delia Linsey King and father of 9 children which they raised in Clayton and Henry counties in Georgia finally settling down in Stockbridge. The Kings got married on August 20, 1895 and did sharecropping and other jobs to support their growing family. Jim King worked at a rock quary for a period of time and while he did not go to church often, he supported his wife taking the children to Floyd Chapel Baptist Church where Delia King went often. Born in the state of Ohio, Jim King was of Irish-African ancestry. Citizens in Albany and thru-out South Georgia and the nation became aware of the King family and how their children and grandchildren helped changed the world for the better.
