daughter of Catherine Young & John Morgan Abraham, married Walter Gillins Stevens
Catherine Grace Abraham Stevens, daughter of John Abraham and Catherine Young Abraham, was born June 20, 1900, in Rock Springs, Wyo. She died at her home in Byron Feb. 21 of a heart attack.
She lived with her parents in Rock Springs for 6 years, then the family moved to Byron. She received her early education in the Byron schools and graduated from the Big Horn Academy in Cowley in 1918.
Grace married Walter Stevens in the Salt Lake LDS temple June 5, 1918. She was active in the LDS church all her life, starting at the age of 16 as organist and continuing 44 years. She was Sunday school organist for approximately 10 years, and was still acting in that capacity at the time of her death. She sang with, as well as accompanied, the Singing Mothers of the Byron Ward.
She was also active in the Primary organization serving in the Byron ward and also as a Stake Counselor for nine years. She was also a great help to her husband while he was Bishop of the Byron ward.
She is survived by her husband Walter G. Stevens; three sons, Jack and Gary of Byron and George Elmer of Casper; one daughter, MarJeanne Olson of Rawlins; one brother, George Abraham of Byron and a sister, Maria Ames also of Byron, and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Walter, who died July 10, 1947; her parents, and a brother, Griff Abraham.
