Death: May 9, 1974

Hattie was born on August 23, 1885, the daughter of Archelaus (Archie) Abel and Louesia Hennrietta (Brandt) Abel, shortly after her family moved to Medford Township (now Fordville), North Dakota from Valpriaso, Indiana.

She was the 3rd of 7 children. She attended the "old #9 school" in Medford, along with her brothers and sisters - Ray, Ross, Melvina, Edna, Ethel, & Harold. She married her neighbor Guy Kellogg on June 5, 1907 at the home of her parents Mr. & Mrs. Archelaus Abel. They had only 1 child - Arnold. Hattie was very small (barely 5 feet tall). She and Guy bought a farm several miles outside of Fordville, North Dakota, next door to the Abel farm, which they farmed for many years (the Kellogg Farm). The farm was sold to the Offerdahl family after Guy & Hattie retired...it is called the Offerdahl Farm today. The original house has been remodeled to be very modern and the farm has been very well taken care of. The old dinner bell, which Hattie's father Archie brought from Valparaiso, Indiana, still hangs in the yard outside the house. The meteorite that was found in the wheat field by Hattie's father still rests just outside the back entrance of the house. The old pump which used to be on the back porch when Guy and Hattie lived there, is also just outside the back door as a decoration.

Hattie was a family archivist to be sure. Guy was an amateur photographer, and Hattie kept very detailed photo albums. She had most pictures labeled with dates and names. She also kept an old school composition book where she pasted family obituaries and also obituaries of friends, along with other pertinent family information. She and Guy were members of the Fordville First Presbyterian Church.

Hattie lived with her sister Edna Mercer in Grafton, North Dakota after the death of her husband Guy in 1964. She died in 1974 at the age of 89.
