JEDEDIAH ASHCRAFT b. January 22, 1727 in Voluntown, CT

Pomfret, many men returned from the French and Indian War, were
elected to town offices on December 1, 1760.

A remodeling of School Districts in 1762 shows the distribution
of inhabitants of Brooklyn Society:

April 10, 1770 petition concerning the taxing of parishioners of
Brooklyn for a new Church of England to be constructed:

At Brooklyn's first town meeting, June 26, 1786; "A half-penny rate
was voted for the support of schools. The committee for settling with
Pomfret was ordered to make a tax on the inhabitants of Brooklyn
originally of Pomfret (providing Pomfret will not do it) for the
purpose of paying up the arrearage due to Pomfret. The latter town
apparently not doing it, a list was made out and the tax levied." (v.2,
p.250), in the list: Ashcraft: Jedidiah, John,
Jedidiah Jun.
Corporal Jedediah Ashcraft is listed in CPT Joseph Cady's
Company of Killingly in CT. The 3rd Co. in the 11th Regiment on
their march to West Chester NY, September 14, 1776 (Records of
Service of CT Men, p461) Muster Roll for the Colony of Connecticut,
New London listed Jedediah Ashcraft June 26, 1746. (Conn. Hist.
Society, v.15, p.145) Married Saranna Rhow Feb. 28, 1744 (Canterbury
V.R.) (born Sarah Munroe, see The Genealogy of Josiah Munroe)
