MYRTLE EDISON ROSS was born in Live Oak, FL on September 22, 1916 and passed away on November 30, 2008 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL.
Myrtle was a member of the Morriston Baptist Church and lived in Morriston most of her life where she was a Levy County school bus driver for 30 years. After retirement Myrtle moved to Gainesville and volunteered in the Pink Ladies Auxilary at North Florida Regional Hospital. Myrtle enjoyed traveling with her family and dear friends, Mildred Mikell and Ione Collins.
Myrtle is predeceased by her husbands: Henry Ross, L.J. Swindle and Jimmie Blitch, also her parents: Edward and Florida Edison, her brothers and sister in law: J.C. (Annie ) Edison and Thomas (Margaret) Edison.
She is survived by her son: James E. Blitch of Morriston, her daughter: Betty B. Sanders of Archer, 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Myrtle has resided at the Good Samaritan Retirement Home since 2003 and leaves a wonderful group of friends and caregivers. Friends who assisted with her care were: Melba Winemiller, Voncille Sanders, Marlene Munden, and the Chiefland Haven Hospice group.
Visitation will be held at Knauff Funeral Home in Williston on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Knauff Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, December 3 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Orange Hill cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to be made to the Chiefland Haven Hospice (311 N.E. 9th St. Chiefland, Fl. 32626) and the Morriston Baptist Church ( 20291 S.E. 33rd St. Morriston, Fl. 32668). Arrangements are under the care of Knauffl Funeral Home Williston, (352) 528-3481.
