This highly esteemed citizen of Appomattox passed away at Staunton Hospital Saturday. The deceased served this county as sheriff for 16 years and was a popular and prominent citizen. He was born July 26, 1847 in this county and never lived any other place.
His remains were interred at the family grave yard at his late home Sunday afternoon in the presence of a large crowd of friends and relatives.
The deceased is survived by the following children: Mrs. J S Plunkett, Mrs. T W Odor, H S and J T Coleman, Mrs. C T Cawthorn WP and Miss Emma Sue Coleman all of Appomattox County.
Rev W M Thompson conducted the service and Senator Ferguson spoke of the service and record of the deceased at the grave. He was a Confederate Soldier.
