Al Qahirah, Egypt

Egyptian Priest and Courtier. He was born in about 1390 BC, during Egypt's 18th dynasty. He was a member of the nobility in his home town, Akmin, and was Superintendant of Cattle to the local god, Min, before being promoted to the posts of King's Lieutenant and Master of the King's Horse at the court of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. His daughter was Queen Tiye, the great royal wife of Amenhotep III, which lead to his being given the title Father of the God. He was also the grandfather of Akhenaten's Queen, the famous Nefertiti, and the father of Tutankhamun's successor, Ay. He died at about age sixty and was given the unusual privilege of burial in the Valley of the Kings. His tomb was discovered in 1905, and it is famous for the fine furniture and chariots it contained. His well preserved mummy is now kept in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo.
