Malissa's death and burial place are still unconfirmed even though a majority of our evidence points toward burial in the Yantis Cemetery. Nell McAfee, the longtime cemetery records caretaker before perpetual care of cemetery began, stated that the stone found in the ground beside the tombstone of J. R. Hollis was that of his wife. Nell's records were her own personal property and not relinguished to the city. The city of Yantis has no record of Malissa's burial.
A memorial stone for Malissa Hollis was placed by John Hullum Hollis descendants in the Yantis Cemetery beside her husband so that she will be by his side and be remembered.
