Miss LaRossy Clark went to Pocatello on Sunday, the 9th on her way home and registered at the Pocatelia House. She had frozen one of her ears and had procured a small bottle of carbolic acid to use on it. She also had a similar bottle filled with alcohol which she was using as a medicine. When she arrived at the hotel she was quite ill and asked the landlady to get a doctor. The doctor was slow in coming and she thought to take a swallow of alcohol to relieve her pain; by mistake swallowed some of the acid. Miss Clark became alarmed at her mistake and immediately took a swallow of alcohol to counter set the effects of the carbolic. The doctor now arrived and had the patient removed to the hospital where she seemed to recover, so that on Tuesday she thought she was able to continue her journey home.
The Doctor advised her to wait a day or so until she would become stronger, but on Wednesday became worse and passed away very sudden. Bishop Osborne Low verified these statements by telephoning to the Doctor at Pocatella.
The funeral of Miss Clark was held in the Afton meeting house last Sunday and was well attended. Consoling remarks were made by Elder Thos. M. Wade, B.D. Gardner, Patriarch Carter, Pres Geo Osmond and Bp. Osborne Low.
