O.M. Woods, 83, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 5, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Hawkins Co. on May 8. 1925 son of the late Will and Francis Freeman Woods.
He served in the United States Army during WWII.
Mr. Woods attended Cedar View Independent Methodist Church and was a former member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He loved to witness for his savior, Jesus Christ.
He worked at Mead Paper for 34 years until his retirement in 1988. A long time member of the Carters Valley Ruritan, he was a part time farmer and avid golfer, Loving Husband, Daddy, Papaw and Great Papaw.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Will and Francis Woods, brothers: "Puny", Rob, Archie, Carl, "Babe", Herchel, J.T. Woods, Sisters, "Lade" Blizzard and Mildred Crigger
O. M. is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frankie Christian Woods, Sons, Larry Woods and his wife Linda, Gary Woods and his wife Brenda, Daughter, Ginger Cooter and her husband Danny. Grandchildren: Gary Woods and his wife Alison, Traci Osborne and her husband Dennis, Amy Patterson and her husband Travis, Tina Hensley, Brandon Cooter and his wife Lori. Great Grandchildren: Cozette, Austin, Brianna, Isaiah, Lauren, Aubree, Aaliyah and Madelyn. Sisters, Ruby Gibbons and Julia Francisco. Brothers, Claude Woods and wife Joanna and Joe Woods and his wife Mogoline. Further survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 at Oak Hill Funeral Home in the J. Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will follow with Pastor Jim Fields and Pastor Bob Ferguson officiating.
Military Entombment service will be held on Saturday November 8, 2008 at 11:00 am in Oak Hill Mausoleun I conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Gate City Post #265 and the Tennessee National Guard.
Pallbearers will be Gary Woods, Brandon Cooter, Danny Cooter, Travis Patterson, Dennis Osborne, Ned Arnett
Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Pendleton and Marvin Lane.
