Major League Baseball Player. For four seasons (1962, 1965 and 1970 to 1971), he was a pitcher with the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox and Milwaukee Brewers. Born David Floyd Weaver, he attended Pecan Gap High School in Texas and played collegiate baseball and basketball at Paris Junior College. He achieved Academic All-American honors and set a NJCAA record, when he fanned 21 batters in one game in 1961. He was signed by Cleveland as an amateur free agent in 1962 and marked his Major League debut as a late season call up on September 30, 1962. He earned the distinction of recording a victory in his first big league game. His career was interrupted while he served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In 1965, he produced a career-high 32 games pitched. After retiring from baseball, he worked as an x-ray technician.
