Hattie Rena "Pat" Milhous was born 26 May 1890, the youngest of six children, to Dr. John Henry Elliott Milhous and Mary Ann Perry Milhous in Blackville, S.C. She met her husband, Samuel "Sam" Epps Buchanan through some friends, and they fell in love by writing letters to each other. They married in Blackville, in the family home "Sunnyside" on 14 Jan 1920. They never had children. Aunt Pat loved to cook and loved her flowers, especially her African Violets and Camellias. She was loved dearly by all of her nieces and nephews in South Carolina.
