| Birth: | Jan. 24, 1910 | | Death: | May 16, 1953 | Django was a jazz guitarist whose fret hand was severely burned and disfigured. His fingers were not in perfect working condition after that but he still had all 5 of them. He was largely popular in the 30' - 40's and 50's until his death. His unique style of playing was directly attributed to the disfiguration of his hand. He played with such greats as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and also had his own bands throughout his career. He is still revered among guitarists as having the most nimble fingers on a fretboard, and many still study his style of playing.
