Palma Evavold, 97, of Ashby, died Sunday, Dec. 24., 2006, at the Pelican Lake Health Care Center in Ashby.
She was born July 4, 1909, in Eagle Lake Township, rural Ashby, to Gunder H. and Mattea (Johnson) Langlie. She was baptized Sept. 12, 1909, and confirmed Nov. 9, 1924, at Pelican Lake Lutheran Church. She received her schooling at District 114 in Eagle Lake Township.
On March 12, 1929, she was united in marriage to Alexander Evavold in Fergus Falls. The couple made their home on their farm in Eagle Lake Township. Palma helped to run the farm and also worked as a baker at the city restaurant for several years. They retired from farming in 1995 and both she and Alexander moved into the Pelican Lake Health Care Center at that time. Alexander died Aug. 11, 2000.
Palma was a member of Grue Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She had a wonderful sense of humor and her nieces and nephews always enjoyed coming to visit her. She enjoyed gardening, canning, embroidery and trapping pocket gophers.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers: Henry J. Langlie, Melvin J. Langlie, Morris Langlie, Morris Gilford Langlie and Vernon Langlie; and five sisters: Helga G. Larsen, Agnes N. Ostrom, Amanda Erickson, Minnie Woldahl and Clara Evavold.
Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church
Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Grue Lutheran Church, rural Ashby
