MATTAPOISETT - Carlton D. Adams Jr., 78, of Mattapoisett, a consultant and former Worcester business owner, died in Toby Hospital, Wareham, after being stricken ill.
He left his wife, Shirley B. (Walker) Adams; four sons, Ronald P. Adams of Fiskdale, Peter J. Adams of Spencer, Jeffrey S. Adams of Douglas and Mark P. Adams of Berlin; two brothers, Stephen E. Adams of Boca Raton, Fla., and Frederick Adams of Cheshire; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. One twin son, Dennis M. Adams, of Shrewsbury, died in 1993, and the other twin son, Dean Adams of Millbury, died in May. He was born in Worcester, son of Carlton D. and Sarah (Myers) Adams and lived many years in Worcester before moving to Mattapoisett in 1990. He was a graduate of Classical High School and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute, both in Worcester. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
Mr. Adams was a consultant for Noremac Manufacturing Co. of Westboro. Previously, he owned and operated R & A Machine Co. Inc. in Worcester for 25 years.
His funeral was held in Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling.
