Thomas married Emily Jane Holley in Nashville, Howard Co., Arkansas. They had seven children. Newspaper, Downey, Los Angeles County, California. Date: Thursday, August 24, 1933: "THOMAS O. HOOKER KILLED IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT TUESDAY" "Thomas O. Hooker, of the Rivera district, was instantly killed Tuesday morning at the corner of Firestone and Paramount Boulevards when the car he was driving crashed with a ten ton truck loaded with gravel. He was thrown out of his car in the path of the heavy truck, and one of the wheels passed over his head. The gravel truck was driven by Amos Hoyt, Gardena, who stated the sedan Hooker was driving, loomed up in front of him as he was rounding the corner and was on the wrong side of the street. He made a desperate attempt to avoid the collision. The body of Hooker was removed to the Thos. L. Miller funeral parlor and an inquest held this morning. The jury found both drivers at fault. Mr. Hooker, 63 years of age, had lived in this district for seven years, coming here from Brownsfield, Texas. He had been Commissioner of Terry County, Texas for nearly two terms. For some time he has been residing on the F. B. Lyons ranch of San Gabriel Boulevard. Funeral services will be held at one o'clock this afternoon at the grave at Rose Hills Memorial Park. Elder J. A. Moore, of the Primitive Baptist Church, will be in charge of the service. He leaves to mourn their loss his widow, Mrs. Emily Hooker; sons Oliver of the George Barber ranch; William, Long Beach; Thomas, Bakersfield; John, of Texas; and daughters, Mrs. Meta Jenkins, Porterville, and Mrs. Ora Jones, of Hugh."
