GILBERT HARRY DAHLBERG, 67, of Duncan, Okla., died of cancer Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, in his home with Chisholm Trail Hospice.
Following cremation, his ashes will be buried privately in the Osage Nation in the family burial site.
He requested no flowers, no viewing and no services.
Harry was born June 11, 1941, in Duluth, Minn., to Gilbert H. and Shirley M. Dahlberg. He graduated Banning High School in Wilmington, Calif., and attended junior college in California.
He worked in the aircraft industry. He worked in Long Beach, Calif., as a radar technician. He also worked for Hughes Aircraft, Autonetics and various aircraft industries.
He married Sophia Little Bear in Garden Grove, Calif. They moved to Duncan with their family in 1966.
Harry owned Harry's Cafeteria in the Ward Mall for 12 years, owned the Sahara Bail Bonds Service and Dahlberg Insurance Agency.
He was a master craftsman at the art of beadwork made of Czechoslovakian beads. He made American Indian dance belts for many dancers around the country.
He was of Swedish/Norwegian ancestry. The Swedes brought the art to the American Indians. He was self-taught, and his work has been on exhibition around the country.
Survivors include his wife, Sophia, of the home; his daughter, Nakomis Ann Dahlberg, and adopted son, Mike A. Overton of Marlow; and a step-daughter, Mickie Overton Piersall of Tennessee.
