Jolly married Edith Merle Welch on 24 Nov 1951 in Winters, Texas. They had three sons and then a daughter while living in Abilene, Texas area where they lived most of their lives.

Jolly was preceded in death by his parents, his wife (July 1996) and a grandson, Israel Shane Adams (1974 - 1988), who died of accidental electrocution at the age of 13. Shane was the son of George Ray Adams and Dorene Hyatt Adams Miller.
