Funeral services for James Richard Carson Jr. were held October 16 at 10:00 a. m. at Purdum [editor: Blaine County, Nebraska].
"Beyond the Sunset," "Whispering Hope" and "Haven of Rest" were sung by Beverly Scheer, Bonnie Keys and Carol Chase, accompanied by Mrs. Arnold Fink at the piano.
Graveside services were held at the Ash Hollow cemetery at Lewellen where he was laid to rest, with Rev. Schuldt of Oshkosh officiating.
James Richard Carson Jr. better known as "Jim" by his many friends, was born at Oshkosh, December 8, 1938. When he was three years of age he moved with his parents to a ranch near Elsmere. Jim graduated from the Broken Bow high school with the class of 1956. He spent six months of active military duty at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, and Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Since that time he had been engaged in ranching up to the time of his death.
Jim was a lover of country music and his favorite pastime was playing his guitar.
He departed this life on October 13, 1959 at the age of 20 years 10 months and five days.
He is survived by his mother Mrs. Ethel Carson; two sisters Mrs. Bonnie Jean Anderson and Juanna Beth; and one brother Danny Dean.
He was preceded in death by his father, J. R. "Dick" Carson in January 1958.
