Jackie D. Knight was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Roswell, NM, to the late A.B. and Irene Knight. Jackie passed away to be with the Lord on Nov. 5, 2008.
Jackie was a resident of Las Cruces since 1949. He was a truck driver and mechanic for 35 years. Jackie enjoyed building and driving horse drawn wagons, playing guitar, fishing, drawing and having coffee with his friends.
Jackie was a family man, and will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Helen; son, Larry and Dana Knight; and daughter, Carla Smith; six grandchildren, Stephanie Liesner and Leighton, Kelly Knight, Seth Knight and Rachel, Jessica Knight, Elizabeth Knight, Donna Smith and five great- grandchildren. he is also survived by three brothers, Tommy Knight of Carrizozo, NM; Robert Knight of Thoreau, NM; and Dewey Knight of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Barbara Jarvis of Omaha, NE; nephews, nieces and numerous other family and friends.
Funeral service will be on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home, 555 W. Amador Ave., beginning at noon, with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery, Pastor Max Perkins officiating.
Pallbearers will be Seth Knight, Jason Duff, Jeff Molina, Ron Davis, Richard Parish and Bob Basile.
