Urbana, May 23 – Carl Willford, 66, was found dead last evening in a boat anchored off the bank of the Cedar river near the Urbana bridge. His body was found about 9:30 last night by Henry McCormick, Urbana farmer. Death was blamed on a heart attack.

Willford was born April 3, 1879, at Vinton to Samuel and Rebecca Willford. On Dec. 6, 1900, he married Sylvia Brody, who survives him. Deceased was manager of the Urbana Telephone Co. He was a former member of the Urbana school board and was affiliated with the IOOF. Surviving him besides his wife are 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and the following children: Ms. Helen Martinec of Vinton, Mrs. Bernice Garwood of Shellsburg, Mrs. Dixie Kelty, Mrs. Martha Luken and Mrs. Alice Kramer, all of Urbana, and Mrs. Abbie Bennett of Grand Island, Neb. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace, two sisters and a brother – Mrs. Carl Smouse, Mrs. Grace Martin, both of Vinton and A. C. Willford of Waterloo.
