William Henry "Bill" Seggerman of Marshalltown, Iowa, formerly of Remsen, died Saturday Nov. 2, 2008, at the Iowa Veterans Home.

Bill was born March 3, 1927, in Remsen, Iowa, the son of Harm and Grace (Luetjen) Seggerman. He attended school in the area of his birth and went on to attend two years at Los Angeles City College. He served with the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1949, during World War II in Germany.

On Oct. 7, 1950, he married Geraldine June Klumpp in Storm Lake, Iowa. To this union, a daughter, Nancy, was born. He formerly lived in Marcus, Sheldon and Storm Lake, Iowa. He had lived at the Iowa Veterans Home since 1999. He was employed with Illinois Central Railroad for more than nine years. He was then employed at Marcus Oil until 1982 and Cherokee (Iowa) County until he was injured in 1982. He loved fishing, woodworking and his faith.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Seggerman Iversen and her husband, Jeff Iversen of Morrison, Colo.; a grandson, Marcus Iversen of Denver, Colo.; his sister, Betty Johnson of Archer, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 12 siblings; and his wife, who died in February 1978.
