Philip H. Schwarz, age 78, of Clinton, Missouri (formerly of Kansas City, Missouri) passed away Monday, November 3, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 7, 2008, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Clinton with burial in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton. Mr. Schwarz will lie in state from 12 noon to 5 P.M. Thursday at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton. Family suggests contributions to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Building fund and may be left at the funeral home. Philip was born in Madison, Wisconsin. He received degress from Notre Dame and the University of Wisconsin Law School. He was a staff attorney for American Family Insurance Company and Universal Underwriters Insurance Company. He was a practicing attorney in St. Joseph, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri. He was a former 1st Asst. Public Defender for the 16th Judicial Circuit. He was a former founding member and President of the Missouri Assn. of Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He was a member of the Wisconsin and the Missouri Bar Associations. He was a member of Holy Rosary Parish in Clinton.
He is survived by two sons, Thomas Schwarz of St. Joseph, Missouri and Stephen Schwarz of Long Beach California; four daughters, Kathryn Fischer and Judith Fox of Long Beach, California, Barbara Martinez of California, and Nicole Calcara of Lee's Summit, Missouri; as well as ten grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren.
