Four Montanans Bombardiers
Quartet Guaduated from Kirtland
Four Montanans, including an Anaconda young man, recently were graduated from the advanced bombardier school at Kirtland field, Albuquerque, NM, according to a news release from the mammoth base.
Each of the four -- Wendell G Palmer, Anaconda; Charles A Jacobson, Great Falls; Walter Hargrove, Huntley, and Jay K Killorn, formerly of Havre -- was commissioned a second lieutenant and given his bombardier's wings.
The news dispatch said they personally will direct the flight of their cargo of deadly bombs over Axis targets as they take their stations in the "greenhouse" of America's big bombers in our march toward all-out supremacy of the air. The release describe the Kirtland field as the world's foremost advanced bombardier school.
The commissions and wings were bestowed at the end of three months' rigorous flight and combat training.
