TOOELE, UT-- A. Deloyd England, blessed with a lifetime of good health, passed away at the age of 91 of natural causes on Friday October 13, 2000 at his home in Tooele, Utah sur-rounded by his loving family.
Deloyd was born Friday April 13, 1909 in Tooele to Joseph Moroni and Agnes Murray England. He married Dorothy Rutledge on Friday, April 13, 1934. Deloyd knew and taught well the value of hard work. In his early years he was a delivery boy for New England Market in Tooele and a movie projector operator in Stockton and Grantsville. Later he worked in Tooele as a dance hall manager, a roller skate rink manager, a grocery store manager and a T.O.D. fireman. Deloyd, as a self-taught man, was an accomplished carpenter, electrician, and plumber. Numerous people have enjoyed his woodworking talents. Deloyd's many handmade crafts were sought after by his family and others. While a senior in high school he purchased land, which later became known as England Avenue in Tooele, and started building and renting houses on this land. He joined his brothers Elmo and Boyd in the operation of England Brothers' Construction Company from 1946 until 1968 when Deloyd chose to focus on his rental properties. During his lifetime Deloyd built many houses, apartments and other business rentals in Tooele. He was an excellent businessman and an outstanding person well known for his kindness and compassion. Deloyd was an active member in the LDS Church. He served continuously as a ward clerk for 38 years with nine bishops.
He is survived by a brother, Boyd England (Tooele), a sister, Ruth McIntyre (St. George), a son, Joe D. (Rodie) England (Tooele), a daughter, Kaye (Russell) Hammond (Tooele), and Carolyn Jensen (Tooele), whom Deloyd considered as a daughter. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchil-dren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1983 and a son, Ted Allen England in 1998.
He was a generous and loving father, grandfather and friend. His presence will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services will be held at the Tooele Third Ward, 141 West Utah Ave. on Monday, Oct 16, 2000 at 10 a.m. under the direction of Bishop David Kroff. Family will receive friends Sunday October 15, 2000 from 6-8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary 110 So Main St. Tooele and one hour prior to services.
