Pauline A. Douglas was born April 3, 1924, in Ogdensburg, daughter of Delbert and Harriet LeDue Carmichael. She was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy and held the distinction of being the first woman to graduate from George Hall Trade School with a diploma in printers type setting.

She married Charles S. Douglas on June 16, 1946, in First Congregational Church with the Rev. Gerald E. Boyce, pastor, officiating. The marriage ended in divorce in 1970.

Mrs. Douglas was employed at the Ogdensburg Journal for a time and later became an occupational therapist at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1985 after 33 years.

Mrs. Douglas had lived at her current address since 1978 and had lived there with her son, Thomas, since 1988.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and of First Congregational Church, where she was the Sunday school superintendent for many years. She was skilled in craft work and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint and caning.
