Clark J. Dishaw, Sr was born in Ogdensburg on Nov. 23, 1927 , a son of Joseph and Helen Barr Dishaw. He attended Ogdensburg Free Academy. He married Phyllis Jean Wilson on Dec. 9, 1950, at Notre Dame Church, with the Rev. Robert Giroux presiding.

Mr. Dishaw served with the Army during World War II. He was employed as a carpenter and later co-owned Clarkie's Tavern with his son, Clark Jr.

He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Schriners, the Rebekah Lodge and Odd Fellows Seaway Lodge 41, where he served as a past noble grand and district deputy grand master.
