Doris W. Decorato was born Aug. 1, 1912, in White Plains, daughter of T. Franklin and Mary Louise Waldron. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy.

She earned a bachelor's degree in social work in 1933 from Elmira College and a master's degree in 1942 from the Columbia University School of Social Work.

She married Frank A. Decorato on June 27, 1953. They met in 1942 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Mrs. Decorato was a retired social worker, beginning her career in 1933 and achieving professional status in 1942.

She was employed by the New York State Public Welfare Department, the Red Cross, United Seamen's Services domestic and foreign, United Services for New Americans, New York City Salvation Army Family Service, Community Service Society of New York and Columbia University School of Social Work, New York City, where she was a field worker faculty member.

She also was a social worker at Mount Sinai Hospital for students and was a professor at Columbia University for a year.

She was a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the Alumni Association of Columbia University School of Social Work and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
