Ella was a daughter of John Gibbons and Melina Ward. She married Aaron F. Moore on Christmas Eve in 1963. They were married in Middleport (Iroquois County), Illinois. They had no children but adopted one of the boxcar children on a train from New York, they named him Robert "Bobby" Bruce Moore.
Aaron and Ella grew apart. It is family lore that, Aaron gave her a monthly stipend and put her in a rooming house in Sheldon. He than had a woman named Astor living with him, beginning about 1888. Aaron called her his wife; but as of this date, a marriage record cannot be found. Also, there is no record of a divorce between Aaron and Ella. Ella suffered from dementia and died penniless.
