She married Melvin J. Carter on July 18, 1934, at Notre Dame Church. He died Dec. 10, 1998.
Mrs. Carter was employed for 37 years in the housekeeping department of the St. Lawrence State Hospital, now the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1978. Previously, she worked for 10 years as a machine operator at Cleveland Container.
Mrs. Carter was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a longtime member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, cooking, making wedding cakes and visiting racetracks, especially the Blue Bonnet in Montreal. She also enjoyed spending time with her dog and attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
