BRUBACHER, Aden - Passed away, peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at age 87. Beloved husband of the late Lorraine Brubacher (nee Heipel) formerly of Kitchener; dearly loved father of Bruce and his wife Norene Brubacher of Kitchener; dear brother of Levi and his wife Seleda Brubacher of RR4, Listowel; Orvie Brubacher of Floradale; Ira Martin and his wife Lena of RR 1, Wingham; dear brother-in-law of Raymond Heipel and his wife Dorothy of Waterloo and Ronald Hammer and his wife Carol of Tavistock. He was predeceased by his parents, Simeon and Mary (Martin) Brubacher; his brothers, Ibra, Elam and Ishmael; his sister, Salema and his sisters-in-law, Selina, Lucinda and Salome. Aden was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kitchener. He served with the Canadian Infantry in Europe during the Second World War. He was wounded in action but recovered from his injuries and returned to active service. After the war, Aden worked as a general labourer at the Lang Tanning Company in Kitchener for a number of years and at numerous other companies in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The family will receive friends at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home , this evening (Thursday) 7-9 p.m. and Friday afternoon 2-4 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W. Kitchener, Ontario, 519-745-9495, with Rev. Roland Syens officiating. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery, 335 University Avenue East, Waterloo, Ontario. A reception will follow at the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre 621 King St. W. Friends who may wish to make memorial donations as expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, may make them to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 322 East Avenue Kitchener, Ontario N2H 1Z5, for the Lutheran Hour or to The Canadian Cancer Society. Aden's family would like to thank all of the caregivers at The Village of Winston Park, Kitchener for their compassionate care.
