Born in Gilbert, he was the husband of the late Annie Pearl Manuel Smith and the son of the late Willie and Martha Snelgrove Smith. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. Mr. Smith was owner of Smith's Sharpening Shop.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, sons and daughters-in-law, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Swygert.
