Mr. Russow was born Nov. 18, 1918, in Bentonville, Ark., the son of Daniel Russow and Sallie (Ford) Russow.
He came to Carthage in 1932 from Arkansas, enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1940 and later served during the Korean War and WWII. His military assignments took him to Korea, Japan, Germany, Okinawa and Alaska and several Army bases in the U.S. Mr. Russow retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service.
He married Norma Lee Happle on May 9, 1970, in Carthage, she survives. He was active in the Carthage Knights of Pythias Lodge, Carthage VFW, Carthage American Legion Posts 40 & 8, the 203rd "Houn Dawgs" and was a member of the distinguished group "the Chosin Few."
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; three sons, Kenneth Russow and wife, Betty, Joplin, Mo., Danny Russow and wife, Vanna, Allen, Texas, Charles "Pete" Russow Jr. and wife, Heather, Carthage, Mo.; three daughters, Carolyn Knight and husband, Richard, Joplin, Mo., Linda Payne, Joplin, Mo., Sally Beth Ellis and husband, Rueben, Sarcoxie, Mo.; one brother, John Russow and wife, Susie, Kendricktown; one sister, Pauline Denayer and husband, Virgil, Webb City, Mo.; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bill Sutter will officiate.
Burial will be in the Veterans Memorial Garden, Park Cemetery, Carthage, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the Carthage American Legion, VFW or the Knights of Pythias.
