Millicent Joy Gunter Briggs was born on January 11, 1922, in Worcester, Massachusetts. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 25, 2007.

She was the eldest of two children born to William and Ada Gunter. Millie was the daughter of a Methodist minister and spent Millicenther childhood moving through-out Massachusetts with her family. In 1945, she joined the United States Marine Corps when she met William D. Briggs. They wed on June 2, 1946, and were faithfully by each others side for 61 years. After Millie served in the Marines, she and Bill decided to make a home in Fresno where they raised their two children, Bill and Carol Ann. Millie worked as a secretary for McLane High School for many years until retirement. She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed participating in church activities. Millie was involved with various dance groups, acted as a PTA President for several years, and was an avid writer. Millie loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. She will be remembered as a friendly woman who loved to laugh. She was a loving and faithful wife, a caring and supportive mother, and a grandma who made each day special. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill; their two children, Dr. Bill Briggs and his wife Michele, Carol Graham and her husband David; two grandchildren, Trevor Graham and his wife Sarah, Kimberly McKinnis and her husband Doug; great-grandchild, Dougie McKinnis; sister, June Meserve and her husband Bob; brother-in- law Floyd and his wife Velma; sister-in-law, Mary-dell Quist and her husband Al; her special niece, Judy who gave Millie love and care throughout the final stages of her life, as did many other of the nephews and nieces. Visitations will be held at Yost & Webb Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Yost & Webb Funeral Home on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at 10:00 a.m.
