Valley Pioneer Dies At Auburn Wed.
Sadie Kennington, wife of the late Hyrum Kennington passed peacefully away at her home in Auburn Wednesday at 7:20 p.m. Her son, Lester and two daughters, Larissa and Alta were with her at the time of her passing.
She has been ill for two months since she suffered a slight stroke.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m. in the Auburn Chapel.
Sarah Jane Kennington, 72, of Auburn Wyo. passed away at her home on June 20th of a heart ailment.
Mrs Kennington was born at Woodruff, Utah November 29, 1878. She was a daughter of Samuel A. Walton and Eliza Katheryn Kent. She moved with her parents to auburn in 1888 and has spent most of her life there since.
She has always been an active worker in the church, having worked for many years in the M.I.A. as counselor and president. Also she taught Sunday school, and Relief Society classes for many years. For more than 20 years she was a faithful visiting teacher, many times walking for miles to visit the sick, and when death came to those in the ward, she helped take care of them and give comfort and aid to those in need.
She had a keen sense of humor that helped her over the hardships of her life.
She was married to Jos. H. Kennington on October 1, 1902 in the Logan Temple and to them were born ten children, five boys and five girls. Her husband and two boys have preceded her in death.
She was an ardent temple worker and has done work for nearly a thousand souls. She was very good at learning and quoting scriptures, and knew almost all of the church songs.
Due to the poor health of her husband, she had most of the responsibility of rearing the family.
She leaves behind a multitude of friends who mourn her loss, also the following sons and daughters;Larissa Wilkes, Aruora, Utah; Jos W. Kennington and Lloyd C. Kennington of Logan, Utah; Tressa Haderlie, Thayne Wyo. Lester Kennington, Auburn; Alta McCombs Clifton, Idaho; Medra Millward, Pocatello, Idaho and Elda Nelson Newton, Utah, and 37 grandchildren, one brother Carl Walton, two sisters, Mrs May Wood and Mrs Rose Tolman of Pocatello, Idaho.
Her funeral services were held in the Auburn ward chapel at one o'clock Saturday. The program was as follows:
Song by Choir: "I Have Read of a Beautiful City".
Prayer by Lloyd Hyde.
Song by Choir: "Who Are Those Arrayed in White?"
Brother C.F. Burton spoke on his acquaintance with the Kennington family.
Duet: Mrs Fenton Linford and Ernest Olsen, "Beyond the Sunset".
Albert Harrison spoke on his love for Mrs Kennington and she saved his life from croup when he as a boy.
"That Wonderful Mother of Mine" was sung by Ernest Turner.
Chas. Moser remarked on his neighboring with Lester and his father, also extended appreciation for the kindness shown the family during the sickness and death of Sister Kennington.
The choir sang:"I Know That My Redeemer Lives".

Pall Bearers were: sons Jos. W., Lloyd C., Lester; grandsons, Kay and Ralph Haderlie and Vincent Wilkes.
Prayer in the home was by Bp. Oliver Haderlie and the grave was dedicated by Conway Wilkes.
Those who carried the flowers were her grandchildren; LaRue and Carol Kennington, Cleo and Rita Wilkes, Valoy, Marilyn and Shirley Haderlie, Ruth and Kay Jean Kennington, Deann Nelson, Dixie McCombs, Sarah Lou Millward, Kenneth Wilkes and Milton Haderlie.
Those attending the funeral from outside the valley were:
Mrs Jos Tolman, Mr and Mrs Verm Caldwell, Mrs Katherin Ricks from Pocatello, Idaho; Mr and Mrs Vasco Walton and children, Mr and Mrs Luther Bricen of Woodruff, Utah; Mr and Mrs George Kennington of Smithfield, Utah, Ira Kennington of Preston, Idaho.
