Jess M. Johnvin, 83, a resident of LaPine for 17 years, died Saturday at St. Charles Medical Center, Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with Father James Harrington officiating. A concluding service and burial will follow at the Pilot Butte Cemetery at the gravesite next to his wife, Delia, who proceded him in death on Oct. 30, 1972.
Mr. Johnvin was born to Joseph and Delia Parrett Johnvin on May 12, 1896, in Daggett, Michigan. A veteran of World War I, he served in the Army from Sept. 21, 1917, to April 21, 1919. He moved to LaPine in 1962 and had been employed as a heavy equipment operator until retiring several years ago.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Perlot of LaPine; a brother, Salmon of Iron River, Michigan; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Marsh of Suring, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by a son, Lyle, on July 26, 1975.
