Elaine Harrington Wilcher, 72, of Louisville, Ga., a former longtime Baker City resident, died Feb. 8, 2006, after a brief illness.
Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Haines Methodist Church.
Her funeral was Feb. 11 at the First Baptist Church in Louisville. The Rev. Larry Montgomery officiated. Burial was in the family plot at the Davisboro City Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilcher was born on July 24, 1932, at Baker City and lived here most of her life. She was employed by the Haines Telephone Co. for a number of years and was employed at The Merc and Bohn's Clothing Store and by the Oregon State Police.
She and her husband, Curtis, moved to Louisville in 1983 after his retirement from the U.S. Air Force. She worked as pro shop manager at Ogeechee Valley Country Club for a number of years.
Elaine enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening, but her greatest love in life was helping and doing for other people.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ervin and Allie Harrington of Haines; a son, Sherman; and a sister, Irene Van Houten.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis Wilcher of Louisville; a daughter and her husband, Sherry and Rodney Loennig of Creswell; two granddaughters, Lisa Loennig of Corvallis and Cassie Loennig of Denver; three sisters, Helen Bogart of John Day, Eula Thompson of Prairie City and Valoria McCullough of Haines.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Haines Methodist Church.
