Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Katherine Fowler Ellis of Portsmouth; a son, Air Force M. Sgt. Gerald A. Ellis of Valdosta, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Hilda Smith of Portsmouth; three brothers Elvin L. Ellis of Elizabeth City, N.C., J. Roland Ellis of Portsmouth, and the Rev. R. Fowler Ellis of Culpepper, and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Sturtevant Funeral Chapel by the Rev. J. H. Hunderup, Jr. Burial, with military honors, will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will be at 709 Park Ave. They ask that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
