The son of William Robb and Sarah McFarlane, he emigrated from Ireland in the fall of 1799. He was born in the Parish of Bedony, County Tyrone, Ireland and the certificate was in the family for many years but in unknown hands now.
His birth is listed in the Robb family bible but was added after 1840.
William Robb immigrated from Ireland in the fall of 1799 and settled in the Big Valley in Pennsylvania. He worked for Sam Taylor when he first came over. He had an Uncle Campbell in Huntingdon who left his house to the Robb children. William Robb was raised in a beautiful valley in northern Ireland about 12 miles from Newton Stewart in the Parish of Bedony. His church letter was in the possession of TL Porter at one time. He was a member of both the blue lodge and the chapter. He was a mason and J. Irvin Robb had his Masonic papers in 1928. His marriage is listed in the History of Huntingdon and Blair counties by J. Simpson Africa as one of many performed by the Reverend John Johnson who was born in Belfast in 1759 and came to the US in 1789. Johnson was pastor of Hart's Log and Shaver's Creek Presbyterian Church. The marriage date listed here is 13 February 1806. William purchased a farm on Stone Creek and lived there for some years before moving to Huntingdon in the spring of 1826. He first rented the farm but then purchased it from the Goldsboro's of Frederick county, Maryland. The house was erected in 1833 and the barn in 1839. He had purchased a large farm for John Robb above McConnellstown. For William Robb he purchased a farm later owned by Howard Cunningham. Livingston was given the home farm, Thomas the farm across the meadow where the original house stood. James and the daughters were given cash. He moved from Stone Creek in the spring of 1826 to a new farm where the family still lived in 1924. He rented it initially but purchased it from the Goldsboro's of Frederick, Maryland. The house was built in 1833 and the barn in 1839. He purchased a large farm for John Robb above McConnellstown. He purchased a farm for William that was later owned by Howard Cunningham.
His death date is listed in the Robb family bible, he died at age 69 years, 11 months and 16 days.
